Something I am resolving to do during 2014 is to share more of my personal story on this blog, and to make that goal a reality I have decided that I am going to start doing these “Weekly Wrap Ups!” at the end of each week. It will just be my way to fill everyone in on what sorts of things are going on personally in my life and what I do on a weekly basis, with the hopes that something in here may inspire you to take action in your own life as well!
The New Year Is Upon Us!
We are only 3 days into the new year and I have to be honest, when I think about all the opportunity out there for 2014 it is a little bit overwhelming. I recently read The Shack by William P. Young, and in one of the conversations that the main character has with Jesus, they discuss how the future can often seem scary because we tend to leave God and faith out of the equations when visualizing what lies ahead. I don’t want to be scared, so I am trying to avoid that line of thinking and just focus on the exciting world of blessings and opportunities that have been laid down in front of me this year and look forward to making the most of them! For starters, Deborah and I are headed to Haiti on a mission trip on January 19-29. Not going to go into a ton of detail on that at this very moment, but there will definitely be more coming in the next few weeks before we leave and then quite a bit after we get back, so STAY TUNED!
Becoming Spiritually and Physically Fit!
Some of you may have noticed that I brought a little bit of my faith into that last paragraph. That’s probably the first time I’ve actually done that since this blog was launched, which is disappointing when I think back on it. I have experienced significant growth in my faith and relationship with God during 2013 and I’m fully committed to keep that rolling into the new year!
To really dig further into my faith, I wanted to do my own sort of “boot camp” system, in the same veins that all the workout programs that I enjoy so much use. Deborah and I are jumping into P90X3 to start the new year, which is a 90 day boot camp style program, so I figured that one of the best ways to get my mind right while working on my body at the same time was to follow a 90 day Bible Reading Plan! So that is exactly what I’m going to do! I found a 90 Day reading plan online and since we are on day 3 of P90X3, I’ll be sure to be all caught up through day 3 of my reading by tonight! I’ve never read the Bible all the way through, so I’m really looking forward to it and it will provide a good platform from which to dig deeper into the Word from once I’m done with this reading plan.
As I mentioned above, Deborah and I are jumping right into P90X3 to start the new year, which is very exciting. I love the original program and haven’t done X2 yet. I’ve been dabbling with some of the workouts for the past two weeks but now we are actually sticking to the “Classic” schedule. I will be sure to write some posts and reviews of the workouts and another goal in 2014 is to make some videos for my new channel on Youtube so that I can mix up the media content a bit here, so I hope you’ll enjoy those as the come along! As we are going through the program, I may throw in some of my own “Doubles” days so that I can try some of the workouts from the later blocks and get those review to you too!
That’s really all I have for now! Look forward to whatever the weekend and all next week has in store for us!
PS. 2 Favors that I’d ask you to keep in mind:
- If you enjoy the hard work that I put into writing all of these articles, making videos, etc, PLEASE help me out by sharing them. Us the links above or below them and share them on Facebook, Twitter, or whatever other social media sites you enjoy using. It is incredibly helpful in providing exposure so I can reach out and help more people.
- If you do feel called to get involved in using a Beachbody product, keep in mind that the only way I benefit financially from being your coach is that I earn a commission from products purchased as long as they are through my site (Coach Store) or by logging into www.teambeachbody.com to do your shopping. If you buy from the plain beachbody site I get no credit and you don’t get the awesome freebies you get by ordering through a coach. This little bit of reimbursement really helps with the amount of time I spend preparing content and answering questions and helping you out however you need it get the results you want to. Thank you, I really appreciate it!
